General transportation in the Kwahu Ridge during the Easter period requires careful and pragmatic as well as progressive solutions. Throughout the entire ridge, people from all over the world to participate in this important festival which often spans over a number of days into about a week. Besides human traffic, there is the traffic of event, movement of goods and services.
Though Covid 19 still poses a public health threat to many countries, it is worth noting that, a lot of people from around the world won’t miss Kwahu Easter Celebration for anything. For this reason, measures will be put in place to ensure the safety of all patrons.
The existing traffic and transport infrastructure and services in the Kwahu enclave cannot accommodate the number of growing tourists and movements during the Easter festivities. Emergencies in a crowded place present a special case where results can be catastrophic and critical. Meanwhile, a review of records on previous Kwahu Easter celebrations indicates that there exist no documented site plans for control and management of traffic and emergencies in crowded areas than to control risks that may arise during the celebration of Kwahu Easter
During this period, the congestion is felt more as the movement of people and vehicles seem unorganised and unsurmountable. These often hamper and widens economic activities and become counter-productive to patrons and economic activities.
How do we ensure that, for the period when covid19 protocols are being observed, we do manage the movement of the people, goods and services in such a way to assure that, there is tracing, testing and treatment?
How do we ensure that, the strategy being proposed will guarantee acceptance by the people and the authorities as well as secure sustainability (future usage of the strategy)?
The overarching objective is to create a resilient public transport strategy for the festival period and beyond. To create a potentially green and sustainable transport and traffic solution such that the municipalities within the catchment area to utilise for the immediate period and the future.
To create a resilient transport and traffic data base which captures vehicles and people who troop into the ridge during the Easter period
